FUNDACIÓN TAMBIÉN Y ERASMUS PLUS, 5 DÍAS DE ÉXITO ADAPTADO E INCLUSIVO EN TOLEDO
Five days where adaptive sports, European exchange, and personal development merged into an unforgettable experience
Fundación También has successfully concluded five intense days of adaptive activities in Toledo, where we brought together three international projects to create an enriching and memorable experience for all the participants with disabilities who joined us.
We traveled to Toledo—a historic city in Castilla-La Mancha and a World Heritage Site—with 18 young people with disabilities to hold a Development Campus, providing them with a space for personal and athletic growth. This initiative was joined by the Small-scale Erasmus+ Project, «Barrier-Life Free,» which allowed us to host representatives from three sister European entities from Portugal, Italy, and Türkiye. Their visit was a valuable opportunity to share working methodologies and showcase our commitment to adaptive sports firsthand.
Furthermore, we had the pleasure of welcoming five adults with intellectual disabilities and two staff members from the Korys Foundation (Lithuania) as part of another Erasmus+ mobility project. This rewarding interaction fostered cultural and personal exchange among all participants.
It was an incredible opportunity for adaptive and inclusive coexistence.
This edition marked our first stay at a new accommodation in Toledo, and the experience could not have been more positive! We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent value for money, its full accessibility, and the multiple possibilities it offers for future activities and family gatherings. Its facilities—which include a swimming pool, covered areas, a climbing wall, a zip line, football and basketball courts, and hiking trails—were the perfect setting for fun and sports.
A program full of excitement and adaptability
The first day welcomed us with the arrival of all participants and an exciting night-time immersion in a show at Puy du Fou. Despite the rain, spirits remained high thanks to our team’s foresight, as they provided ponchos for everyone.
We dedicated the second day entirely to enjoying the magic of Puy du Fou—a journey through time where we witnessed three shows that left an indelible mark. The international participants did not hesitate to describe them as the best they had ever seen.
The kayaking session planned for the third day had to be canceled due to bad weather, but the quick response of our staff allowed us to organize a fun and competitive sports gymkhana. In the afternoon, we went on a pleasant 45-minute walk along an accessible route to the village to enjoy a meal together, leaving the rest of the afternoon free for rest and personal exploration.
The week culminated with an enriching guided tour of the historic city of Toledo. As always, by adapting the itinerary to everyone’s needs, we were able to discover the beauty and culture of this World Heritage city, enjoying a meal in a unique setting before returning to our accommodation.
When our technician, Andrés, presented them with the diplomas he had designed himself, the looks of excitement and pride on everyone’s faces truly moved us. It is in those moments that we realize all the hard work and effort are always rewarded.
The fifth day marked the departure of the groups, who took with them unforgettable memories and new friendships forged through adaptive sports and inclusion.
International exchanges like the one we held in Toledo offer a wide range of benefits for both the people with disabilities who participate directly and those who work to promote their inclusion. Getting to know associations from other European countries and trying new activities enriches our methodology, professional development, and mutual learning.
